2006-2007 Washington UU Legislative Issues and Strategy

UU Voices first year bore some legislative successes and hope for UUs to move forward into the future for an even more fruitful year in public policy.

Our Process: UUs who had a particular issue that they wanted to track can made a proposal to the steering committee and upon approval became a Legislative Tracker. Those proposals wto to the congregations via Congregational Contacts for congregational recommendations to be submitted to the steering committee. Once issues were selected, members will be contacted weekly throughout the legislative session with a newsletter that includes action alert links for each selected issue.  Make sure to sign up to get your newsletter.

Proposed issues:

The criteria on which the issues were determined were their:

UU Voices Actions included individual and intra-congregational workshops to meet the specific needs that congrgegations have regarding advocacy training and issue/organizational formation workshops. As in UU Voices 2005-6 actions ,we work in coalition with allied organizations for lobby days, briefings, trainings on particular issues and bringing quest speakers to the area.

UU Voices will inform you of relevant events related to our issues.

We have some exciting and ambitious organizational plans for 2007.
